Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011) Description
The next edition of the best-selling Call of Duty series is a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and its story picks up where the other game ended. As soldiers, players try to stop hostile forces that threaten security and peace in the world.
According to a decision of Activision company, who owns Call of Duty franchise, the series is being simultaneously developed in two directions – modern and historical. Modern Warfare sub-series, produced by Infinity Ward studio, presents fictional events set in a very near future.
This time the game production was also supported by other Activision subsidiaries – Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software. The developers set a goal for themselves to tie up threads of the main characters of the series, while enriching gameplay with new features.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for PC, PS3 and etc. takes off shortly after the events of the second part of the series, published two years before. The writers took special care that the story constantly kept players in suspense. Throughout the 16 missions of the campaign, players have an opportunity to visit Dharamsala (India), New York (USA), London (United Kingdom), Mogadishu (Somalia), Hamburg (Germany), Paris (France), Prague (Czech Republic), Berlin (Germany), Washington (USA), Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and other places. There are also some unique locations, such as the Moscow Kremlin, a castle in the Czech mountains, or the interiors of a plane transporting the president of Russia.
The creators of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 made sure that the events could be observed from different perspectives. Consequently, players have an opportunity to play as, among others, a tank driver, a gunner on board of AC-130, SAS soldier, and an agent of Federal Protective Service of Russia (FSO). In the game there appear many heroes from the previous games, but also some completely new characters, including Delta Force soldiers nicknamed Frost and Sandman.
The gameplay in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for PC, PS3 and etc. is built on the foundation set by previous games of the series. The developers put some variety to the game by increasing the number of weapons and vehicles. Minor changes were also made to online play. Apart from traditional multiplayer matches, Spec Ops mode was prepared mainly for purposes of cooperative play (although you can also play it solo). It consists of 16 Missions of increasing difficulty as well as Survival mode, in which you have to repel waves of enemies.
The visuals are not much different from what Infinity Ward team presented in Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. The third part of the series uses a proven graphics engine IW 4.0.
